A Dragon in Her Keeping

Librarian and tattoo artist Tessa Calder prefers old books, orderly shelves and problems that can be solved with enough tea. Then a mysterious crate appears on her doorstep—and the warm, scaled egg inside begins to hatch.

Now Tessa is responsible for Emberclaw, a mischievous dragon hatchling with oversized wings, an alarming talent for fire and firm opinions about breakfast. Keeping him hidden would be difficult enough without Gideon Skyrender, an infuriatingly secretive stranger who knows far more about dragons—and Tessa—than he is willing to explain.

When a missing library book points towards a forgotten dragon sanctuary, Tessa is drawn into the buried history of Prairieglass Lake. Ancient wards are awakening. Watchful crows are gathering. A ruthless organization is searching for the surviving dragons, and the enormous Maine Coon called Marmalade may be something far more powerful than an unusually judgmental cat.

To protect Emberclaw, Tessa must uncover why the egg was entrusted to her and decide what it truly means to become a keeper—not an owner—of something wild, magical and capable of choosing its own home.

A Dragon in Her Keeping is a warm, witty cozy fantasy filled with hidden histories, found family, slow-burning romance, protective cats, clever crows and one small dragon determined to become a very large problem.
